The Mombasa gladiolus produces dark purple flowers. Their velvety, shiny petals are a feast for the eyes. An attractive gladiolus always constitutes a nice decoration of the garden or a lawn, as well as tall planters on a balcony. Dark colouring of the flowers is truly unique, and the one-sided arrangement of flowers only magnifies the impression. Gladioli have been planted for years in gardens and for cut flowers. Presented variety and its surprisingly coloured flowers can become a new, spectacular, and new part of your design. Dark flowers of the Mombasa variety influence all senses and can surprise your guests as decoration of a dining table. Bouquets made of gladioli plants survive for years in excellent condition.

The time for planting gladioli bulbs comes in spring, end of April and start of May. We recommend planting them in a fertile, humous, permeable, and moderately moist soil. Such growing conditions ensure healthy and strong plants that bloom abundantly. A sunny spot that is also sheltered from winds is the best site for tall gladioli that tend to lodge under the weight of flowers. Staking seems to be the best solution for this problem. Place the bulbs in holes that are deep thrice the height of the bulb, 10 to 20 centimetres apart. In autumn, a few weeks after the flowering period, you need to excavate the corms that would otherwise freeze in the ground in winter. Winter gladioli bulbs in dry rooms in temperatures over zero.

One package contains 5 gladioli bulbs of the presented variety. These bulbs are sized 12/14 centimetres in circumference. The basic plant information and growing instructions can be found on the package label.
