The Munstead Dark Red orpine (Sedum telephium) can become a showcase part of late summer or autumn border and in a rock garden. This exceptionally tall and brightly coloured representative of the Sedum genus grows up to 50 centimetres tall. Its broadly branching shoots are covered with oval, serrated, small leaves that take on a subdued green colour. Dense, lush, panicles of flowers develop over the foliage in August. The freshly opened buds are dark pink but they turn darker as they mature and become blood red in October. This fairy-tale transformation makes the Munstead Dark Red one of the most intriguing and valued orpine varieties that are available on the market.

The broad, long, and abundantly blooming orpines are charming and easy-to-grow plants. They are resistant to diseases and water shortages. They do not have any special site requirements and like permeable and dry soil. They thrive in lime soils. You can achieve deep saturated colour of the flowers at sunny sites, but these plants tolerate partial shade too. Seedlings available in our store should be combined with Sedum varieties that take on different colours, e.g. the pink-purple Vera Jameson, white Stardust, and the multi-colour Rainbow Xenox.

One package contains 1 first choice seedling. Essential growing instructions have been printed on each package.
