The Nikita gladiolus (Gladiolus), offered here in 50-piece packages, belongs the charmingly beautiful bicolour varieties. This plant grows 125 to 145 centimetres tall. The most of that length is covered with long, one-sided, rich ear-like rows of flowers. The Funnel-shaped blooms that consist of stiff, triangular petals, take on a scarlet colour. Creamy-white, irregular markings can be seen inside the perianth. Buds that are arranged close to each other start to open in July, starting at the bottom. A decorative green spike of red cones will slowly unfold until end of August.
Due to the abundant flowering and large size of the flowers, the erect, tall gladioli, such as Nikita, require fertile, humous, and constantly moist soil. Protect them from wind that could break their stiff stems. Make sure to leave them full access to sunlight. This plant would thrive on a large, open border, e.g. in company of lilies, black-eyed-Susan, and dahlia. Plant gladiolus bulbs late in spring. Dig them out in September, before the first frost, to store them in a cool, dry place over the winter.
One package contains 50 bulbs of the Nikita gladiolus, sized 12-14 cm. Essential growing instructions have been printed on each package.
