"Wolf" onion (Allium cepa) is a medium early winter onion variety. It is characterized by exceptionally rapid growth in spring. It is recommended to be cultivated from the summer sow. It is intended for the earliest harvest in production and bundled or used as cut onions. This great wintering variety shows high resistance to frost and vernalization. It develops large, shapely, round onions of which the older ones are covered with pale brown scale. Chives grow back rapidly after the winter and takes on dark green colour with visible, bluish coating. White, juicy and delicious onions of the "Wolf" variety are made for direct consumption.
Growing onion in the field over the winter guarantees the earliest harvest. Seeds of the wintering onion are usually sown in the second half of summer directly to the field. The following year in May onions develop and the chives break, what signals the approaching harvest. You may start collecting the crops at the end of May, maximally until end of June. Winter onion has similar requirements to the usual onion. It grows best in soils rich in nutrients and humus, sufficiently moist and permeable.
Each package contains 2 g of the "Wolf" wintering onion seeds. Growing instructions and the sow-by date are included in the package information.
