The orange flowered double freesia is a unique flowering plant. Its beautiful, frizzled flowers and their distinct pleasant scent are the prize for all efforts put into growing this species. Until now, freesia was grown in greenhouses for cut flowers. Freesia bulbs available in our garden store allow you to grow those magnificent blooms in your garden or even at home. You can create phenomenal compositions by simply combining freesia with perennials and ornamental grasses. Freesias grown in pots look great in single-species arrangements. Large clusters of flowers in warm colours are unmatched and bring all their beholders in rave. Freesia plants are medium tall and grow forty to sixty centimetres when planted in gardens. The vividly green, slender, pointed leaves do not grow on stems but form rosettes at the base of flowering stalks. This set-up gives the plant a nice, erect appearance. Abundant flower clusters may bend during the flowering period. We recommend staking them at that time.

Freesia is a flower that demands gardener's attention. The work starts with planting of bulbs. Place them the tipped side up, five to eight centimetres deep, eight to ten centimetres apart. The soil should be fertile, permeable, and moist, with a pH close to neutral. Freesias crave sunny situations, you might, however, try to plant them in partial shade. The maintenance of freesia plants bases on feeding them with multicomponent fertilizers and constant humidity control, as the soil must be kept continually moderately moist. When growing freesia on borders, you must dig out the frost-sensitive bulbs before the winter. Store them in temperatures above the freezing point, slightly dried and covered with dry sawdust or peat.
