Oriental poppy is a plant with showy, large flowers that appear from May to July. Airy, wide poppy petals give them a characteristic, delicate appearance. This perennial produces rosettes of feathery, pubescent leaves that seem to have a slightly silvery glow. During the flowering period, the plant spends erect, 60 to 80 centimetres tall shoots. Each of them carries a handsome, cup-shaped, single, semi-double, or double flower. Its convex, barrel-shaped, dark brown centre belongs to most characteristic Oriental poppy features. As the flowers wilt, this convex centre transforms into a seed capsu;e. Oriental poppies open their flowers when most spring perennials have finished flowering and summer perennials have not yet developed. That specific flowering time of poppies allows you to add a subtle not of exotic, oriental beauty to garden borders and flowerbeds.

Oriental poppy should be planted in spring in light, well-drained soil. It does not have to be particularly fertile, yet high humus content makes plants more abundant. Poppies like sunny positions. Only there, they can display all their beauty. When growing eastern poppies, take into account that the plants die off completely after flowering, which is why you should always plant them in company of flowering plants that showcase their beauty in the second half of summer. Eastern poppies are resistant to low temperatures and can winter outside throughout the most of Europe.

Each package contains one first-selection seedling of the Oriental poppy mix. Packaging label contains basic plant facts and a quick growing guide.
