The pink alpine gypsophila or creeping baby's breath is a tender-looking, magnificent garden plant. This perennial is easy to grow, as it has low cultivation requirements and therefore fits well onto all spots with lesser soils. It belongs to the pink family and grows in the wild in many European countries. It develops a creeping habit and does not grow taller thank 20 cm. The alpine gypsophila bushes are partially evergreen and create tufts that reach up to 1 metre in diameter. It blooms abundantly from June to September. Its tiny flowers resemble a small cloud of rising mist. Their sweet pink colouring adorns rock gardens and walls and can be used as a marvellous covering plant. The cut stems are used in floristry in both fresh and dry bouquets and arrangements. The creeping baby's breath grows well in containers on a balcony or terrace.
This plant is recommended for dry, warm, sunny sites. Soil with high sand, rock or clay content will not hamper the growth of this species. It does not like excess water, so irrigate it only during longer drought periods. The seeds of the pink alpine gypsophila should be sown onto a seedbed in May - June, while the seedlings should be transplanted to the permanent site in August. Keep the plants 25-30 cm apart.
One package contains 0,4 g of the pink alpine gypsophila seeds. The basic plant facts and growing tips were printed on the back of the package.
