The Etoile de Feu red gloxinia makes you fall in love with it at first sight. Its large, cup-shaped, carmine-pink flowers with a lighter edge grow in a dense cluster straight from the centre of the plant. This compact hemisphere of flowers that grows no taller than 30 centimetres fits perfectly into pots and decorative vases. Gloxinia grows well at bright places that are, however, sheltered from direct sunlight. Without looking any farther, you can easily place it on a table in the dining room or on another piece of furniture that you would like to decorate. This elegant plant is most often used as interior decoration of houses and flats, but it can also be placed on a balcony or terrace when the summer weather has fully stabilized.

Stylish gloxinias are not difficult to grow. Plant their large tubers in pots filled with a light and fertile soil poured over the bottom drainage layer. Do not cover the tuber completely with soil, We recommend leaving two thirds of its length overground, leaving only the bottom part buried. Gloxinia does not require any special care apart from regular saucer watering with soft water at room temperature. This plant likes humidity in the air, but hates spraying. Fertilize weekly during the vegetation season with a special pot plant or flowering plant preparation. In autumn, gloxinia enters dormancy. Green parts of the plant die. This is the time to transfer the tuber to a room with a temperature of about 13⁰C. Plant it again in spring into fresh soil. Water plants as soon as they shoot first sprouts.
