Salad cucumber 'Tomasz F1' is an early, hybrid, parthenocarpic, productive and vigorous variety intended for cultivation under covers. The ability to develop fruit without pollination, meaning that insects are not necessary during blooming period and that it produces rich crops irrespective of the weather conditions, belongs to the most important characteristics of this plant. It is recommended for forced cultures under unheated covers for the earliest possible harvest.
Fruit of this variety are delicious, regularly shaped, grow 14-16 cm long and consist of firm flesh with a small seed chamber. Their skin is bright green with paler smudges and white 'marbling'. Warts that occur on the surface are large, yet come in small numbers. 'Tomasz' salad cucumber is usually eaten raw. Its fruit also make for great, tasty and crunchy pickles. They are low-calorie, rich in valuable minerals (potassium and magnesium, among others) and contain vitamins B1 and B2.
Cucumber (Cucumis sativus) is an annual plant that belongs to guord (Cucurbitaceae) family. Although it is considered a thermophilic plant, it yields rich, high quality crops in moderate climate without the need to apply any special care measures.
The variety offered in our store should be sown into boxes and pots. Hardened seedlings may be transplanted in the plastic foil tunnel late in spring. Similarly to other productive F1-hybrid cultivars, 'Tomasz' cucumber needs a fertile, moist, properly cultivated soil rich in humus.
