Medium early 'Izolda' shelling pea is a variety that ripens evenly 80 to 84 days after the sow. It develops rather tall, 70 to 90 cm, branched and erect plants. The pods of the variety presented here grow 7-8 cm long in pairs and are tightly packed with large high quality seeds. One pod contains 6-8 dark green seeds. 'Izolda' pea crops may be dried and processed after cooking. One thousand fresh seeds weigh 380 g and one thousand dried ones - only 165 g. Dried seeds are rich in B-complex vitamins and are a tremendous source of easily assimilable proteins and minerals: calcium, potassium, phosphorus, iron and magnesium.
Shelling pea (Pisum sativum) grows well and yields rich crops in cooler climate, so lower temperatures in spring do not disturb the development of the seedlings. Seeds germinate already at 2ºC. They are sown early in spring in rows 3-4 cm apart, 4-5 cm deep. The soil on the site chosen for cultivation of this particular variety should be rich in humus, loose, permeable and sufficiently moist.
Packages available in our store contain 50 g of the 'Izolda' shelling pea seeds.
