The blue-flowered small, dwarf, or lesser periwinkle (Vinca minor) is an evergreen covering perennial. It is a tiny plant that produces shiny, leathery, ovate leaves. It grows in the wild in Europe and West Asia. Small periwinkle spreads its long runners across the ground it develops in. Subtle blue, five-petal periwinkle flowers appear continually from April to August. Dense small periwinkle carpets that sparkle with small flowers look fabulous. Small periwinkle is often used in parks, on embankments, and shaded public squares. In gardens, it is commonly planted under trees and larger shrubs. It looks good as a border of shaded flower bed and in a rock garden. Small periwinkle leaves are used in the traditional herbal medicine. It has anti-inflammatory properties and lowers blood pressure. It helps control vertigo. As a dressing, it can be used to heal wounds and to clean skin lesions
Presented perennial does not have any special requirements. It should develop well in the majority of gardens. A humous, fertile, moderately moist soil is optimal for this plant. Use all-purpose mixed fertilizers to feed it. Plant small periwinkle between the beginning of April and end of September. Leave about 25-centimetre spacings between seedlings. You would need about twelve plants to cover one square metre of land. Seedlings of this plant spread quickly.
