Strawberry "Rainbow Treasure F1" (Fragaria x ananassa) should appeal to lovers of unusual plants. This original heterotic cultivar presents great productivity, vigour and remarkable resistance to diseases. It can be grown as an ornamental plant in containers placed outside at window sills, terraces or balconies. You might of course also plant strawbery tufts on borders. They produce numerous and rather small, but very sweet, conical, dark red fruit. They hang on decorative, long, bent stems. Before the development of the fruit strawberry plants of this variety are adorned with colourful, five-petal red, pink and white blooms.
Seeds are sown in early spring in to a permeable, moist soil enriched with a dab of peat. The seedlings with at least a few pairs of leaves need to be hardened and then transplanted to a box or other container, like a decorative hanging basket or bowl. These plants can also be cultivated on sunny, elevated beds with aerated, fertile and not overdrying soil. Fruit can be admired and harvested from June way to October to serve them as great dessert or addition to cakes and ice cream.
Each package contains 5 "Rainbow Treasure F1" strawberry seeds. A growing guide and the sow-by date are included in the product information.
