Sweet alyssum (Lobularia maritima) is an undemanding, yet generously flowering annual plant with a tuft habit. The proposed variety is ideal for creating extensive flowering carpets, because it intensively spreads and grows up to 20-30 cm high. It blooms almost all summer long - from June to September. The undeniable charm of the sweet alyssum is due to the myriads of tiny, single, cup-shaped and densely packed flowers. The variety offered in our store blooms blue, so it looks beautiful in arrangements with blue, pink and white flowers.

Cultivation requirements of the sweet alyssum are minimal. This plant will succeed on any soil - both the ones rich in humus and the less fertile. It likes permeable soils and sunny sites that are, however, partially shaded for a part of the day. Sweet alison seeds should be sown in late spring at the permanent site. Due to the pillow-like habit, it is an excellent plant for filling empty spaces in rock gardens and on flowerbeds. It looks fantastic in compositions with Alpine rock-cress, lobelia, saxifrage, Arizona beggarticks and catnip.
