The late double Abigail tulip is a nature's show clad in brightly pink-purple petals. The flowers that appear in May and consist of velvety sepals resemble peony blooms. The saturated colour looks impressive on the flower beds in the garden and in spring bouquets. Their subtle aroma perfectly complements the pompous look of this flower. The slightly frizzled, dentate petals form broad endings. They sit over the greyish green leaves and constitute splendid representatives of their category. The plants of this tulip variety usually grow about 45 cm tall.

Tulips belong to the most popular and universal bulbous flowering plants. A splendid colourful tulip will fit into almost every part of the garden. You can plant tulips in single plant groupings, mix them with other bulbous flowers, as well as annual and biennial plants. Tulips look great on the background of shrubs and lawns. They also constitute an unusual decoration and visual delight when planted in containers. They are often used for covering larger areas and borders. You would have trouble finding other plants that fit both the natural and formal designs. And do not forget about the tulips as cut flowers. You won't find a better companion during the wait for spring than a bouquet of colourful tulips.

Tulip bulbs should be planted in autumn, preferably in September and October. Allow the double bulb height, usually 10 to 12 cm below the surface to plant tulip bulbs. The optimal site would be sunny with moderate heavy, fertile and moist soil.  A permeable soil with a reaction between 6.6 and 7.5 pH are also considered good for tulips. The bulbs need to be watered during the rainless periods in the intensive development stage. We recommend to dig out tulip bulbs every year. The bulbs should be excavated, dried, cleaned and stored in a warm and dry place after the leaves have dried off (about 6 to 8 weeks after the flowers have wilted). Removing the ovaries that are left after the flowering is also recommended.

Each package contains 5 bulbs of the Abigail tulip. The basic information about the plant and the growing tips are included in the product information.
