The soil should be permeable, if it is not the case, apply the appropriate drainage layer. Before planting in autumn the soil should be cultivated, weeded and mixed with compost in order to provide plants with nutrients. The optimal soil reaction would be neutral or slightly acidic. Tulip growing sites should be sheltered from strong winds in order to protect plants from damage. Apart from the regular weeding we recommend to remove the wilted inflorescences. Plant the bulbs at the depth equalling their double height. Put the stem bud (the pointy tips) up. Cover the bulbs with soil. Press the soil in order to remove the hollow cavities. Water the bulbs once, exuberantly after the planting. Tulips are resistant to frost. We recommend to cover the bulbs with mulch or conifer twigs before the winter.
