The 'Grasslands Huia' white clover (Trifolium repens) is a perennial plant that is grown for highly valuable, protein-rich and digestible fodder. Plants of this species quickly grown in the spring and develop slender stems that easily take root and cover the ground with dense turf. The 'Grasslands Huia' variety is perfect for permanent pastures, because it is resistant to cropping and trampling and quickly grows back after cutting. It supplies valuable raw material for delicate and tasty hay and green fodder. Apart from the pastures and crop rotation, white clover can be found in public greeneries and sporting grounds. It is also grown for its melliferous and medicinal properties. It can also be used as green fertilizer. White clover enriches the soil and improves its structure.

The species offered here is exceptionally resistant to unfavourable weather and such phenomena as drought or frost. It thrives in almost every kind of soil apart from the meagre sands, waterlogging, and overdried soil. Despite its relatively low cultivation requirements it grows best on fertile, moderately moist soil with a slightly acidic or neutral reaction. Seeds of the white clover should be sown in spring or summer. We recommend to use the white clover meadow for hay only during the first year, in the following years you will be able to let the animals graze on it five to six times, as this variety grows back quickly and remains green until late autumn. The seeding rate is 8 to 10 kg/ha.

One package contains 5 kg seeds of the 'Grasslands Huia' white clover. The sow-by date has been printed on the package.
