Winter Cherry, also known as Bladder Cherry, is a perennial plant that grows 40 to 60 centimetres in height and flowers from July to late October. Its distinctive orange flowers greatly resemble little chinese lanterns, while the green leaves significantly contribute to the decorative value of this charming plant. Winter Cherry is commonly used in flower arrangements or dried bouquets, and is highly recommended for perennial beds.
Growing: sow the seeds in planter boxes, covered pallet planters or in a seedbed from May to June. The seeds germinate in 2 to 5 weeks at 18-20°C. Plant out into the soil in 30x30cm spacings in August. This variety grows best in fertile soils; it loves sunny as well as semi-shaded positions.
