The Alannah gladiolus is a beautiful variety that produces flowers in a pastel colour with a more distinct accent at the lower petals. Its light pink blooms have a slight lavender hue and wonderfully contrasts with green leaves. Gladioli that flower in July and August immediately become the hard-to-miss border part. A noble, one-metre tall plant should look great in a larger grouping of about half a dozen or even a dozen plants. Gladioli form perfect broad edgings of the main communication paths in the garden, at the entrance, or next to a gazebo and terrace.
Plant them at sunny spots that are also sheltered from wind. Places with southern exposure, alongside fences and building walls works best. We recommend planting bulbs every two weeks, in batches, starting mid-April to mid-May. This method allows to extend the flowering period and adorn your garden with gladioli for a much longer time then in case of one-time planting. Gladioli prefer soils that are rich in nutrients, fertilized, and permeable. Plant bulbs eight to ten centimetres deep, 15 to 20 centimetres apart. Water gladioli regularly during the phase of intensive growth. Heavy clusters of gladioli flowers might require staking. Gladioli do not winter in the ground - you must take out the bulbs right after the end of the flowering period, when the plants are still green, but have completed their development cycle. Let the bulbs dry a bit, remove green plant rests. Store gladioli bulbs prepared that way in an airy place secured from frost.
One package contains 5 gladioli bulbs of the presented variety. These bulbs are sized 12/14 centimetres in circumference. The basic plant information and growing instructions can be found on the package label.
