Angled glass airlock. The material this product is made of is certified by the Polish Hygiene Institute (PZH), permitting it for food contact. This airlock is designed for use in the side openings of fermenters, allowing you to stack them.

This product needs to be filled with water and put into the cork opening. Thanks to that the contents of the carboy / demijohn are protected from oxygenation, while the carbon dioxide, a by-product of fermentation can be released.

Due to the fact that transparent glass had been used for production of this airlock you are able to observe the changes that occur during fermentation. Do remember to fill up water in the airlock chambers that evaporates steadily. This is absolutely crucial for the proper course of the process. Negligence in that regard may lead to oxidation of the forming ethanol to the unwanted acetic acid.

You may substitute water with another oily liquid that does not evaporate that quickly.
