The crimson red "Burgundy Red" astilbe (Astilbe x arendsii) is predestined to become an elegant decoration of a shady border or pond with its inflorescences of the deep, red wine colour. This plant grows strongly and its habit resembles a smaller shrub. Its tufts are densely covered with leaves and bloom in the first half of summer. Its long inflorescences that take on a form of fluffy ears tower over the clumps of odd pinnate, dark green, shiny leaves. The "Burgundy Red" astilbe grows between 50 and 70 cm in height and remains decorative even after its inflorescences have wilted. Therefore it can be used as cover for less elegant garden spots or as background for lower growing plants.

This shade loving, exceptionally ornamental perennial is intended for cultivation on shady and moist sites. It likes moderately fertile soils rich in organic matter that do not dry. It winters in the ground successfully and you may rejuvenate larger plants by splitting the rhizomes after the flowering period. Dark red, abundant inflorescences of the "Burgundy Red" false spirea, as this plant is sometimes referred to in horticulture, harmonise beautifully with the blooms of white astilbe varieties ("Brautschleier", "Diamant", "Weisse Gloria") and the white-rimmed decorative hosta leaves. You may use astilbe blooms as cut flowers, both for fresh and dried bouquets.

One package contains 1 large and healthy rhizome sized 2/3. Plant growing instructions were included in the package information.
