Bearded iris, sometimes called German bearded iris, "Nel Jape" (Iris germanica) sports extremely large, pale salmon-pink blooms. These magnificent flowers appear in May and June on garden borders. Long, sword-shaped leaves that form ornamental fans grow in spring. An erect, up to 90 cm tall flowering stalk emerges from in-between the leaves. "Nel Jape" bearded iris will decorate each garden border and looks great planted in larger groupings that form colourful spots in the garden. You may also combine it with other irises that produce more intensely coloured flowers.

Iris rhizomes should be planted in spring and autumn onto permeable soil. Plant them on sunny or partially shady sites. These irises grow best on a fertile, clay soil that needs to be properly drained. Soils with slightly acidic or neutral reaction suit these plants best. This plant winters well in the ground in Central European climate conditions.
