BIO Leaf Lettuce - Salad Bowl - Natural freshness, vitamin rich leaves - Fresh Seeds

BIO Leaf Lettuce Salad Bowl is a mid early variety suitable for growing outdoors and under cover from spring through to late autumn. It forms large, open rosettes of light green leaves with gently wavy edges, shaped a little like oak leaves. The leaves are crisp and juicy, making them a great choice for salads, sandwiches, and as a simple garnish. The seeds come from certified organic cultivation, produced without synthetic plant protection products or artificial fertilisers, offering a natural and safe option for gardens, containers, and under cover growing.

Sowing depth

Sow Salad Bowl seeds 0.5 to 1 cm deep. This depth supports quick, even germination and helps young plants develop strongly and healthily.

Outdoor sowing time

Sow outdoors from April to May, then again in August. This variety can be grown in two cycles to spread harvesting across the season.

Sowing time under cover

Under cover, sow in March, April, and May, and again in summer in July and August. Growing in a tunnel or greenhouse allows an earlier start and can extend the harvest by several weeks.

Planting time

Transplant seedlings to their final position from April to June, then again from August to September. Young plants establish best when they have several well formed leaves and a strong root system.

Spacing

Keep a spacing of 40 x 20 cm. This gives each plant enough room to develop and form broad rosettes filled with healthy leaves.

Harvest time

Harvest Salad Bowl from June to July and from September to October. Pick leaves regularly once they reach a good size, as this is when they are at their crispest and most flavourful.

Growing

Salad Bowl grows best in sunny or lightly shaded positions, in fertile, free draining sandy loam soil that is kept slightly moist. The soil should be humus rich and enriched with organic matter. Regular, moderate watering helps produce especially tender, juicy leaves. This variety does not cope well with drying out, so it is worth keeping moisture levels steady. It is an easy, rewarding lettuce that grows quickly and crops reliably with basic care.
