The black bat flower (Tacca chantrieri) of the "Green Isle" variety is true treasure among flowering plants intended for home cultivation. This exotic giant that grows up to 90 cm tall develops huge (up to 30 cm in diameter) inflorescences that would not go unnoticed. The small single, six petal, bell-shaped flowers are gathered in a cluster at the top of a naked flowering stalk. The inflorescences owes the majority of its ornamental value to the two large bracteoles, that resemble spread bat's wings, and the long, hanging bracts that look like cat's whiskers. The "Green Isle" variety offered here in our garden market develops green bracteoles and flowers. They look only a little less extravagant than the blooms of the typical black bat flower. Large, shiny, ovate leaves developing on thick petioles also constitute an ornamental feature of the plant.

Rhizomes of the "Green Isle" Tacca chantrieri should be planted onto permeable, fertile soil. A mixture of high quality flower soil and pearlite would work well. This plant develops best in partial shade, as full sun may burn its leaves. The unique bat flower offered here will dazzle with its exotic beauty and may become the feature ornament at home or in a greenhouse.

One package contains 1 large, healthy first choice rhizome. Plant growing instructions were printed on every package.
