Cactus dahlia (Dahlia pinnata flore pleno) belongs to garden dahlia varieties and is characterized by its attractive, exuberant, full flowers. This perennial ornamental plant blooms in August and maintains its looks until end of September. It is a sturdy plant that grows rather quickly, reaching 100-120 cm in height. Blooms in multitude of colours. Our mix combines vivid and pastel-coloured varieties in different shades of yellow, orange, pink and red. They catch one's eye with their form, too, as each flower head consists of tens of elongated, tongue-like petals that form a tight ball.
Cactus dahlia seeds should be sown from February until April under covers, in a warm hotbed or indoors, on seedling panes under glass. Seedlings are pricked out when they reach appropriate size, and transplanted mid-May to permanent site - a sunny flower bed with moist, humous, but not to heavy soil works best. The plants produce rhizomes that need to be dug out in autumn and planted again into soil in spring after the late ground frosts are gone.
One packet contains 1 g of cactus dahlia seeds in a variety mix. Sow-by date and growing guide are printed at the back side of the package.
