Carrot "Dolanka" (Daucus carota) is a late, very productive variety that develops very long (up to 30 cm), slightly conical roots. It reliably yields high quality crops, as its roots are regularly shaped and resistant to breaking. The peel is vividly orange, slightly rippled without greenish discolouration. "Dolanka" carrot variety stands out with high carotene and low sugar content. This universal variety may be used in cuisine in many different ways, but is recommended for direct consumption and processing, particulary freezing and preserving. It may be grown both by professionals and amateur gardeners.
Carrot "Dolanka" is grown from direct sow to the ground for summer-autumn harvest and consumption or for storing over the winter. Seeds for the summer harvest and consumption are sown in April, and for the winter storing mid-May. Seeds are sown in rows, 1 - 2 cm deep in 30-40 x 5 cm spacings. After the sprouting young plants need to be pricked, leaving 5 - 8 cm spacings between the plants. Light, sandy or sandy-clay, moderately moist and slightly acidic soils are the best for carrot cultivation. Carrots may be harvested from September to November.
