Carrot "Nantaise 2" (Daucus carota) is a medium early variety grown for summer and autumn harvest. Its roots may be stored short-term. It develops large roots that grow 20 - 22 cm tall. Vividly coloured, dark orange roots of the variety offered in our store take on a slightly conical shape. Their flesh is crunchy, firm and nicely coloured. "Nantaise 2" carrot is very tender and tasty. It contains plenty of sugars and carotene. It is perfect for direct consumption both raw and cooked.
Carrot does not require much warmth and therefore it can be sown onto the field in early spring. Seeds of the "Nantaise 2" carrot should be sown in rows 30 - 40 cm apart. Thin out the densely growing seedlings, leaving 3 - 4 cm spacings between them. Sandy-clay, light, permeable, humous soils with neutral or slightly acidic reaction work best in carrot cultivation. Water shortages cause decrease of the crops volume, so it is extremely important to keep the soil moderately moist all the time. This variety is harvested from July to September.
