"Flyaway F1" carrot (Daucus carota) is a variety that belongs to medium early ones. It is characterized by rapid growth and nice colouring of the roots. Resistance to carrot flies is one of the biggest advantages of this variety. Cylindrical, medium long roots have a narrow core and smooth skin. The roots display exceptional quality and resistance to breaking so they can be stored. Juicy and tasty roots taste great eaten raw, cooked and may even be dried.
Carrots are grown directly from direct sow to the ground. Sow "Flyaway F1" carrot seeds from March to April on sandy-clay soil. It is grown in rows 20 - 30 cm apart. After the emergence seedlings need to be thinned, so they grow 4 cm apart. Harvest of the vividly orange roots takes place from July to October. Carrots yield richest harvest on warm sites in soil that is rich in nutrients and humus. The soil needs to be well cultivated, permeable, yet constantly moist.
