Root celery "Talar" (Apium graveolens) belongs to the earliest varieties with round roots. It harvests abundantly with high quality crops rich in essential oils that retain firmness and great taste. White flesh of the celeriac "Talar" is sheltered by a thick, beige skin. The flesh does not show a tendency to become pithy or to change colour after cooking.

Root celery grows best from seedlings, sown end of February / beginning of March into a warm hotbed or at home, under glass. Developed seedlings should be transplanted into the field after initial hardening, but no earlier than May 15th. It is advised to provide "Talar" with a sunny site with a fertile, moist, but not too wet, soil, in order to enjoy the largest and highest quality roots. These contain plenty of calcium, kalium, magnesium, natrium and phosphorus, as well as vitamins of the B-group and vitamin C. Essential oils from the celeriac flesh help regulate digestive and urinary systems.
