The Champion canna lily is a charming cultivar that presents its stunning salmon-pink flowers with yellow centres in the middle of summer. Lush green foliage is yet another ornamental feature of this plant. Foliage consisting of green leaves with burgundy-red stripes constitutes an intriguing component of garden arrangements. A broadly spreading plant with stiff erect stalks that end with exuberant clusters of flowers is wonderful specimen that brings its owner much joy. Presented variety grows 80 to 100 centimetres tall. The Champion canna can fully showcase its oriental beauty as a standalone plant, particularly if you choose a special spot for it. Another popular idea of using this plant is creating a multi-store combination on a border or at a pond edge. Cannas are plants that are commonly grown in planters. Their lush, impressive foliage and rich flower clusters look great on a balcony with an oriental design.

Plant canna in the second half of May. Place its large rhizomes horizontally in fertile, humous soil, about 10 centimetres deep. Canna, plants of warm climate, prefer sunny and sheltered situation. You can grow them on borders and in large planters. In both cases, those plants require regular watering and fertilizer application. Plant food should replenish substrates needed by the plant during intensive growth and abundant blooming.

Canna lily does not belong to hardy species. In our climate it is considered an annual or needs to be excavated before the winter. Take out the thick underground rhizome late in autumn.
