Cock's-foot, orchard grass Donata (Dactylis glomerata) belongs to exceptionally productive, early grass varieties from which it stands out with overaverage expansiveness. This vigourously growing loose-habit grass develops a dense root system that may reach up to 100 cm deep into the soil. It is therefore resistant to treading and can be grown in pastures and meadows. Its main advantages are high resistance to frost and drought tolerance. The orchard grass or cat grass, as it is also called "Donata" develops long, stiff, coarse, blue-green leaves. They contain high amounts of proteins and ensure rich dry mass harvest. It grows quickly and spreads broadly on all fertile soils, as it makes perfect use of nitrogen. The variety offered here in our garden store may be used both as pasture grass and for hay. It grows back rapidly after mowing and guarantees high volume, quality crops several times during a single season.
