The beautiful Columbus tulip will bring a lot of charm to any arrangement. Its buds open mid-April to reveal fascinating double flowers. Not only the colours, but the the form of picturesque tulips, too, deserve recognition. Broad flowers that consist of about twenty semicircular petals display an amazing pattern. The intensely pink base creates a background for two vertical, bright lines running through each petal. The edges of the flower take on a lighter shade and slightly curl inwards. Columbus tulip is so chic that it is hard to take one's eyes off it. Sophisticated cup-shaped flowers of the Columbus tulip grow atop twenty to forty centimetres (eight to sixteen inches) tall, dark green stems that are surrounded by lanceolate leaves. Sorted, disinfected, and dried, they will gain strength befoe being planted again in the ground.
