The dark red "Lucifer" crocosmia (Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora), available in 10-piece packages in our garden store, is a reliable, vigorous variety with an extended flowering period. Its over-average vigour allows it to grow up to 120 cm tall and makes it one of the tallest representatives of own species. The "Lucifer" crocosmia blooms abundantly and its inflorescences are unmatched in terms of ornamental value. Long, erect flowering stalks that sprout from the sabre-shaped leaves are covered with tubular buds in the first stage of blooming. In July the buds gradually open, starting from the bottom of the stalk, and the large, funnel-shaped flowers begin to display their exotic beauty. The cultivar offered here in our store produces blooms that take on a distinct, deep red, exceptionally alluring colour.
Bulbs of the "Lucifer" crocosmia should be planted in spring in permeable soil enriched with compost or special fertilizer for bulb flowers. This perennial does not tolerate strong frosts and needs to be excavated before the winter just like the gladioli. It might, however, survive a milder winter under protective cover of conifer twigs, dried leaves or fleece. This montbretia, as this plant is also called, with blood-red flowers spreads beautifully and its numerous, long stalks framed by the erect, grassy leaves, may adorn a border, rock garden or the elegant lawn right at the front of your house. It is worth using as cut flower, too.
One package contains 10 large bulbs sized 7/+. Plant growing instructions were included in the package information.
