Crown imperial is a majestic perennial bulbous plant. It stands out with a sheer beauty and makes a stunning impression in gardens. Crown imperials bloom in spring with a wreath of bell-shaped flowers and enters a summer dormancy stage. Bulbs left on one site develop for up to 10 years and form colourful, picturesque colonies.

"Early Fantasy" crown imperial, also known as imperial fritillary or Kaiser's crown, belongs to the most attractive varieties of this plant. Its charming bell-shaped flowers take on a colour of a setting sun. Shades of apricot mix with a subtle, red veining at the outer sides of the petals. Crown imperial is a tall growing plant. A stiff, leafless stalk towers over the abundant foliage. Numerous, downward facing flowers sit atop the stalks. Flower wreaths are surrounded by the ornamental foliage plumes. The salmon-pink crown imperial is an exceptional plant that is worth inviting into your garden.

This species is recommended for sunny sites, but dispersed light should not negatively influence the development of the plants. They would thrive in permeable, even gravel soil. Crown imperial does not like excessive humidity and requires watering only during summer droughts. It should be planted at least 20 cm deep. The large, characteristically fragranced bulbs have to be planted with the rift – a mark left by the thick stem - upwards.

We are presenting an extremely ornamental seasonal plant. Crown imperials should be planted on borders, among other plants that would replace them in summer. You may plant them alone or in groupings under not too dense trees and in lawn arrangements. They look great in naturalistic and more formal compositions. The "Early Fantasy" cultivar delights with an intriguing shape and the unusual, warm colouring.
