The tricolour 'Akita' will enchant the slowly subsiding autumn garden with the warm colour of its large flower. These large balls are covered with the fluidly interchanging yellow-orange, red, and white colour. The combination with rich, bright green foliage makes the 'Akita' dahlia a garden star. The magnificent variety that reaches a standard dahlia height of 80 to 100 centimetres, looks best on borders and flower beds next to your home. Good news for those who don dispose of a plot - dahlia can be grown in sufficiently large planters. 'Akita' is perfectly suited for tall, large groupings, where she would become the leader of the pack. A few fully developed flowers, cut and put into a vase will create a cosy, idyllic atmosphere inside.

Dahlia is a plant that perfectly fits on a sunny or partially shady situation, where the soil is rich in nutrients. That soil should also have a permeable structure, yet remain constantly moist. Adding a dab of compost will not only improve soil properties, but also enrich the ground with an extra portion of nutrients. Dahlia rhizomes are planted in May, preferably in the second half of that month. You should not plant its bulbous roots too deep. We recommend watering and feeding dahlia with suitable fertilizers during the entire vegetation period. Frost-sensitive dahlia tubers must be dug out in autumn after the first frost. Cut the blackened, wilted stems right above the ground. Clean and dry the rootstocks. After disposing of the excess soil, place the tubers inside boxes or baskets, cover with peat or sawdust, and place in a room that secured from frost. Leave them in such conditions until late spring when you can plant them again.

Each package contains 1 piece of the first choice 'Akita' dahlia rootstock. Basic plant growing instructions can be found on the package.
