The "Edge of Joy" dahlia is a variety whose flowers radiate with colours. The immaculate white combines with dark pink. The slightly wavy petals that spread from the yellow centres end with saturated colour accents. This plant is hard to miss also thanks to its bright green foliage that provides additional contrast to its flowers. The easy to grow and long flowering dahlia proves to be a great addition to every flower bed. The bicolour varieties additionally attract butterflies to the garden. The spectacular looks of the "Edge of Joy" dahlia is put on display during the second half of summer and holds until the first autumn frost. This marvellous plant grows 50 to 100 cm tall. It is a great solution for all kinds of flower beds and lawns. We also encourage you to plant it alongside walls and fences and in large planters. Dahlias are truly multi-purpose flowering plants and can be added to almost every arrangement. The dazzling "Edge of Joy" variety is waiting for an invitation to your garden.

Growing dahlias is not difficult. Only the excavating of the roots before the winter might be problematic for some of the gardeners. Plant them on sunny sites or in only partial shade. The access to sunlight is absolutely essential for the proper development of plants and saturated colouring of the flowers. We recommend to choose spots that are sheltered from the wind because of the tall and slender stems. Staking might be required in case of stems that cannot handle the burden of large flowers. Dahlia needs a permeable, constantly moist, nutrient-rich soil with neutral or slightly alkaline reaction. Dahlias should be planted 50 to 60 cm apart. Their tuberous roots should be put about 5 to 10 centimetres deep, from April to June.  They require watering during periods of drought. Do not forget to remove wilted flowers.  Dahlias react well to fertilization with manure, compost and mineral fertilizers.

Dahlia bulbs do not winter in the ground and need to be excavated in autumn. Trim down the stems first and then carefully dig out the roots. Place them in open boxes that should be kept in a dry room with a stable temperature within the 2 to 4°C range. To ensure better wintering conditions, you may cover the rootstocks with sand or peat. If you notice a significant drop in firmness and wrinkles on the surface of the roots, you may wet them sparsely with water.
