The Rocco dahlia forms wonderful crimson-red flowers. Their ornamental, intriguing shape adds new texture and dimension to every garden. The tall strong stems provide the small pompons with a safe place to present their charm. Every inflorescence consists of numerous layers of silky petals arranged in 4 to 6 centimetres wide balls. These bushy plants that grow between 75 and 90 centimetres tall constitute a wonderful idea to fill empty garden spots. The Rocco dahlia is also perfectly suited for growing in planters that you can arrange on a balcony as a seasonal decoration. Presented variety is also a great cut flower. The long and abundantly blooming tufts of the Rocco dahlia form a wonderful image. These plants perfectly fit all kinds of home garden and allotment designs.

Dahlia can be planted only after the last frost in May. You can force rootstocks in pots to grow flowering specimens quicker. In that case you plant outside ready seedlings. Dahlia roots must be covered with a layer of soil and watered immediately after planting. Fertilizing every three to four weeks, watering twice a week, and topping of wilted flowers are the necessary care measures while cultivating dahlias. You can trim the shoots at the beginning what will make plants spread better. Dahlias belong to perennials that cannot winter in the ground. You must dig out their rootstock in autumn and transfer it to a room that is protected from frost. You must strip the rootstock of all green parts and dry gently right before storage.

Dahlias do not have any special cultivation requirements. This plant grows well on all sites that are in the sunlight for six to eight hours daily. You should make sure that it has permeable and fertile soil at its disposal. Place a drainage layer of stones or gravel at the bottom of planting holes to prevent the soil from drying out and waterlogging. Prepare the soil for growing dahlias by feeding it with compost and tilling thoroughly. Select a warm and wind sheltered place for those plants.
