The daylily "Arctic Snow" displays the rare combination of subtlety and elegance. The light, brightly coloured blooms form a garden jewel that glitters in sunlight. This daylily variety is exceptionally easy in cultivation and would please both beginners and experienced gardeners. It is perfect for busy people who do not have time for arduous, time-consuming care measures and still would like to grow magnificent flowers in garden. This daylily, producing large, creamy-white flowers, is a terrific variety that would enchant your garden. This particular daylily cultivar has been awarded by the British Royal Horticultural Society for its extraordinary decorative value.

Vegetation form: Perennial. Winters thanks to the fleshy roots, called rhizomes.

Rhizome: First quality only, displaying full health and strong vigour.

Growth form: Erect and broadly spreading foliage forms base for the erect, slender stalks that end with clusters of flowers.

Height: 55 – 80 cm, depending on the growing conditions and the weather during a given season.

Foliage: The magnificent grass-like tuft constitutes an intriguing decorative display even outside the blooming period. It consists of sideways bending, arch-like, pleasantly green leaves.

Flowering period: Daylily "Arctic Snow" blooms for two months, from end of July/beginning of August. Sometimes the blooming occurs even earlier.

Flower type: Six fleshy petals form shallow, broad calyxes. The corolla is single.

Flower colour: The unusual, especially for daylilies, pastel yellow colouring that turns into creamy-white belongs to the most striking features of this plant. The lemony yellow colour of the calyx base spreads over the whole flower and migrates over to the petals, creating an unforgettable pattern. Petal centres might be decorated with additional, paler smudges. These blooms, as whole, are full of elegance and timeless charm.

Site: Daylily will present its potential to the fullest, if you provide it with good, fertile soil rich in humous and with regulated water conditions. Daylily growing site should be sunny or partially shady. You should water them regularly during drought periods. This group of plants belongs to an undemanding group that shows high ornamental value.

Planting: Place the rhizome into a hole dug in a loosened soil and cover 4-5 cm deep under ground level.

Planting time: You may successfully plant a daylily, starting already at the beginning of march, the whole season long, until middle of November, if the weather permits. Planting from April to September is recommended, though.

Spacing: The minimal spacing is 50 cm.

Wintering: Daylily is an exceptionally vigorous plant. It winters well and its vegetation period starts quickly. The latest varieties with the unusual flowers should be preferable covered with a pile of dried leaves or twigs.

Use: The original colouring of the flowers makes this variety a truly outstanding garden decoration that would lend its charm to every border. Flowers, that attract attention from afar would contrast nicely with all shades of green. A group of daylilies in the centre of a lawn presents exceptional ornamental value. Pale flowers of the "Arctic Snow" variety harmonize perfectly with pond surroundings.
