The fall phlox, sometimes called paniculated phlox, is a spectacular perennial that develops stiff, straight roots and rounded, large flower heads. It flowers in summer, usually in July and August. Different varieties may differ in that and other features. Phloxes come in many different colours and shades. The convex panicles usually take on various shades of pink, purple, and white, but you can also grow orange and red coloured cultivars. Some of them produce bicolour flowers, some of which are additionally adorned with an eye or radial stripes. Phlox belongs to tall plants and may reach height of 50 to 90 centimetres. Phloxes have constituted a valued garden decoration for years and can make your green refuge even more attractive. Only a simple composition of several varieties guarantees a colour show that introduces a romantic mood. Phlox flowers excrete a nice, strong smell that attracts insects. The magnificent appearance and pleasant fragrance make phlox a popular cut flower that stays fresh in the vase for up to a week. You can also grow this perennial in pots.
Grow phlox on sunny spots. Those plants to not like to grow too close to each other and need to be kept apart. They like fertile, humous, moist, and permeable soil. We recommend fertilizing the planting site with mature compost. Put phlox rhizomes into shallow holes. Do not cover the "eyes" with more than a 2-centimetres thick layer of soil. Plant phlox root seedlings from April to May, 50 centimetres apart. When the stems grow 20 centimetres tall, trim them to allow for better spreading. Remove wilted flowers with sharp scissors, as the plants would produce new buds what would prolong the flowering period. Cut down phlox stems in autumn and cover the site with compost. It will prevent the plants from diseases and give them food before the next season. Phloxes are fully frost resistant and do not need any special protection from frost. This species belongs to long-living and undemanding plants that do not require much of your effort.
Each package contains one root seedling of phlox variety mix. Colours are sent randomly.
