The excellent garden dahlia "Unwins" (Dahlia pinnata Unwins) in a mix of differently coloured blooms is intended for decoration of borders, lawns and pots. The plant grows 50 - 60 cm tall as dense, richly leaved tufts. Gargantuan, double flowers with numerous, curled petals open on the tops of the stems in middle of July. The selection of seeds available in our store will enable you to grow white, creamy-white, yellow, orange, pink, red and bordeaux-red blooms. Garden dahlia "Unwins" maintains its ornamental value until the first frosts in October.
Those frost-sensitive plants are grown from seedlings. Seeds should be sown in March or at the beginning of April into a warm hotbed or pots placed on a windowsill and covered with glass. Hardened seedlings are transplanted in the second half of May to a sunny border into a permeable, moist and humous soil, or into large boxes and pots filled with compost soil. Flowering stems can be cut for bouquets.
One package contains 1 g of "Unwins" garden dahlia seeds. The sow-by date and growing instuctions are printed at the back side of the package.
