Garden vervein (Verbena x hybrida) with blue, white dotted blooms, is extremely ornamental, even though it grows rather low. Its charm lies in original, star-shaped flowers that form semicircular umbels at the tops of the stems. Petals are intensely blue in colour, resembling the forget-me-nots. White dots in petal centres only add to that charm. Buds of the unique blue verbena open already in June. Full flower heads remain at the stems until autumn colds.
This presented variety can be grown from seedlings, that can be easily raised in hotbed, or even at home, in spring. For the latter method you would only need a flat seeding tray, permeable standard soil or a coconut seeding mat. Seedlings need to be hardened and than transplanted to the field in May. You might cultivate them on sunny borders, where they will fill the gaps left by the spring perennials, on flower bed and path edgings, and in all kinds of containers - baskets, boxes, pots, bowls or vertical pocket planters. Blue garden vervein will add spice to a composition of flowers with warm-coloured blooms, such as marigolds, tickseeds (Coreopsis) or dwarf zinnia variety - "Liliput".
Each packet contains 0.3 g of garden vervein seeds - the blue with white spot variety. A growing guide and the sow-by date have been included in the package information.
