Aconitum 'Rubellum' produces soft pink flowers in the characteristic hooded shape, carried in loose flower clusters. Its glossy, palmate leaves form spreading clumps that stand out clearly against the pale petals. This variety is highly frost hardy and does not need frequent replanting. It grows particularly well alongside ferns, astilbes and phlox, and is well suited to shaded borders.
Plant from March to May.
The recommended planting depth is 10-12 cm.
Allow 40-50 cm between plants to give them enough room to grow.
Reaches 70-80 cm.
Aconitum flowers from August to October.
Aconitum winters very well and does not require extra frost protection.
This variety is ideal for semi-shaded borders, where it creates subtle colour transitions. It is best planted in small groups with astilbes, ferns and perennials grown for their ornamental foliage. It also grows well under the shelter of taller deciduous shrubs and near the trunks of old trees. It is equally effective in lines along paths in woodland-style plantings.
