The Rubellum monkshood (Aconitum napellus) is a true rarity within its species. It stands out from its relatives with the unusual, eye-pleasing, light pink colour of the flowers. Broad, about 80 centimetres tall tufts of this long-lived perennial constitute a great addition your garden collection. The loose, spectacular flower clusters consist of uniquely shaped blooms whose shape is compared to helmets or hoods. The palmate, shiny leaves wonderfully frame the pastel coloured flowers.

You can form an extraordinary composition out of a monkshood, fern, lady's mantle, and the colourful false spirea. Presented plant offers great company for phlox, lily, and iris. It can be grown next to bushy, wild areas. It belongs to a small group of plants that fits so well onto woody areas and wild-looking plant arrangements.

The presented Rubellum monkshood shall not present any problems in cultivation. It should thrive in partial shade and on a site with a dispersed sunlight. It prefers moist and fertile soil. Do not forget to water it during drought. Mulching soil around the plants helps to maintain optimal growing conditions. Monkshood is a completely hardy plant. It requires a site change once every several years.

Do not forget that monkshood is poisonous when you grow it. Standard garden work, touching leaves and flowers should not put anybody at risk, but always treat the plant with care. Toxic are seeds and roots. That is why we recommend planting monkshood in less accessible places, particular to children and pets.

Always approach and handle the plant with appropriate protective gloves on.
