Description

The Odorata Sunny Dream fragrant begonia is a plant that delights with a nice, compact, slightly trailing growth form. It produces dense dark green foliage consisting of asymmetric cordate blades. The splendid light yellow flowers resemble small roses. This variety produces myriads of them during the entire vegetation season that lasts from June to October. Fragrant begonia perfectly fits onto a balcony or terrace, planted in planters. It can also be exposed in pots in a garden, next to frequently visited places. These magnificent plants do not grow very tall. Height of a fully developed begonia of the Sunny Dream variety does not exceed 40 centimetres.

Fragrant begonia grows from flattened tubers that constitute their propagation organs. Plant them into pots and planters in spring and force in a warm interior until mid-May. You can transfer or transplant them outside after the Ice Saints. Make sure to put the tubers concave side up into the soil. Do not plant too deep, a five-centimetre thick layer of soil over the bulb would be enough. If you plant more than one tuber in a larger box, make sure to leave 20 to 30 centimetre spacings. Presented species belongs to rather demanding plants. It prefers humous, permeable, nutrient-rich soils. Begonia plants must be regularly fertilized and watered.

Tuberous begonias are often considered annual plants. Still, if you dig out the bulbs in autumn, you can grow them over the next few seasons.
