"Lena" counts to the most popular sweet pepper varieties. Low growing plants form regularly shaped, slightly elongated fruit with shiny, red peel. Thick flesh tastes sweet and very juicy. They are often consumed directly and processed. They look great, what gives them high market value and paves them way to shops and markets.
Since the plants of this cultivar are rather small, they can be planted more densely and fit well under covers, even unheated plastic tunnels. Seeds are sown in March and raised seedlings are usually transplanted to the permanent site in May. Harvest usually takes place from July to September. Vegetables harvested later may be stored for shorter periods and preserved. They are, however, intended for direct consumption in most cases.
