Gladioli will pay you back with long, abundant flowering for planting them at a bright, warm, and sheltered place. Plant their bulbs in spring into fertile, permeable soil that contains plenty of humus and nutrients. Do not plant them too shallow, as it may cause the tall plants to fall.
