Pretty Ellen Spotted is a truly unique variety of Lenten rose (Helleborus orientalis). This long-lived perennial grows about 30 to 40 centimetres tall and even a little bit broader. Dense, compact tufts of at least a few years old Lenten rose bear magnificent flowers. Five petals that are adorned with a subtle spot pattern surround light green centres. Crimson colour of the marking contrasts with the creamy-white petals. Initially hanging down buds turn up as they unfold. The palmate, stiff, leathery leaves offer an elegant background for the blooms. They adorn the garden even during the winter with their straightforward beauty. The flowering period depends mainly on the weather. Lenten rose may develop flowers from end of February until May in favourable conditions. The Pretty Ellen Spotted variety offered here in our store is a real gem of the garden in late winter and early spring. It adds colour to borders and under naked corollas of deciduous trees. It can adorn parapets and deep pots at front door.

The vigorous and abundantly flowering Lenten rose should not exhaust you in the garden. It will grow and abundantly flower for years in partial shade or shade and moderately moist, yet permeable soil. Watering when the need arises and fertilizing with compost are need for optimal results. This plant likes mulching the soil with bark and removing of the oldest leaves in autumn.

We hereby offer one seedling of the Pretty Ellen Spotted Lenten rose. Basic plant information and growing tips were printed on the packaging label.
