The purple flowered trailing petunia is an ornamental plant that dazzles with its beauty. Its cascades of large, funnel-shaped flowers are the perfect balcony, terrace, box, planter, pot and bowl decoration. The trailing petunia looks adorable planted alone and together with other plants. Such colourful arrangements will gain on character and become a true seasonal attraction of the house surroundings.
Hundreds of deep flower cups that take on a purple colour with a hint of pink cover the background of green leaves. The trailing, vividly green shoots are densely covered with small elliptic leaves. The wavy petals of 'Surfinia', as this group of trailing petunias is called, are tender and sparkle beautifully in the sunlight. The myriads of flowers appear already in May and continue to bloom all season long. Only the autumn cold puts an end to this magnificent show.
Growing petunias on your own is easy. This plant grows exceptionally well in home conditions. Sow seeds from February to April into pots on a windowsill or in a greenhouse. Do not cover the seeds with soil, but press them gently into the moist soil. The small seedlings need to be pricked out in order to keep them 3 to 4 cm apart. Transfer them to the permanent site in the second half of May after the last frosts. These flowers are recommended for sunny, preferably wind-sheltered sites. They prefer fertile, light and constantly moist soils. You will achieve excellent results when you feed the 'Surfinia' trailing petunias with special fertilizers. The rich, abundantly blooming flowering carpets will miraculously change your favourite places of relaxation.
One package contains 0.05 grams of the purple trailing petunia seeds. The sow-by date and the growing instructions can be found on the back side of the package.
