Pygmy iris "Cherry Garden" (Iris pumila) is a great iris variety that develops purple blooms. This low growing plant grows only 30 cm tall. These plants form ornamental tufts consisting of sword-shaped leaves in the spring. The flowers appear in May and the blooming takes place even until July. This particular variety is recommended for lower borders, rock gardens and edgings. If you plant a few of these irises together you will create a distinctly coloured spot.
