Sea Holly is a hardy perennial that grows 60 to 70 centimetres in height. This plant has a steel blue shade, which is particularly visible on its flowers. The highly decorative blue to violet bracteoles make a magnificent spiky collar around the cylindrical head of the flower. Sea Holly is an outstanding variety, which is very suitable for perennial beds as well as for flower arrangements – it can be used both with fresh and dried flowers.
Growing: sow the seeds in a seedbed from February to March. Plant out into a permanent position in September. The plants are in flower in the summer in the second year after the seeds have been sown. This variety grows best in fairly rich permeable soils in sunny positions.
