Snap pea "Desiree" is a "two-in-one" variety - a delicious vegetable and an attractive ornamental plant. It usually grows 1 m tall and requires staking to grow well. What makes "Desiree" pea stand out from other varieties are the unusually coloured, purple pods with green seeds. Pods develop from very decorative, pink blooms. Snap peas can be consumed raw, preserved or frozen. It fits into all kinds of salads and purees.

Seeds of the "Desiree" variety are sown directly in spring in 20-35x5 cm spacings. The latest sowing time would be end of May. Please remember that pea grows best on permeable, fertile and moderately moist soils on sunny sites. Fresh pods are harvest-ready in summer, from mid-June until August, depending on the date of sowing.
