Spring Onion - Wenta - Red - 5 kg is a medium-late red onion variety known for its high yield and uniform produce. Each onion weighs between 90-100g and has a slightly flattened shape. The flesh is firm, juicy, and features a decorative purple-white colour. This variety is celebrated for its mild, aromatic, and balanced flavour, as well as its attractive dark red outer layer. Notably, it is high in vitamin C and does not sprout chives during storage.

Compared to yellow onions, red onions are milder and less pungent. They are often used raw in salads or as garnishes, and their unique aroma complements a variety of dishes, including meat, mushroom, fish, poultry, and pasta. Rich in flavonoids, these onions serve as potent antioxidants, beneficial for preventing lifestyle diseases.

Spring onions are the simplest variety to cultivate, providing a continuous supply of tasty chives throughout the growing season and mature onions for autumn and winter. They thrive in warm, sunny, and sheltered locations with humus-rich, consistently moist soil. Planting should take place in early spring, between March and April. The bulbs should be spaced 20-40 cm apart in rows, with 7-15 cm between each bulb. For a continuous supply of fresh chives, dense planting is recommended. The top of the spring onion should either be level with the soil or slightly covered.
